Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was a businesswoman, investor and speaker from the United States. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran has participated in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. As of February 2020 she had completed 53 deals. The largest of these was a $350,000 investment for Coverplay at 40%. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a family of Irish Catholics who worked hard, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence was her mother, who was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran's early years. In times, her family relied on the delivery of food for free from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as one who sometimes was a drinker and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran struggled with her education and was later diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After flunking several courses during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and graduated as a D student.
