Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and she also holds the title of most powerful female officer in American history. She is a member and former US senator who represents California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she was elected San Francisco District Attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris was the junior United States senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, an opportunity to become a citizen for immigrants who are not legally documented, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. National attention was gained for her sharp questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
